Odyssey
Magazine

Role: Researcher, Graphic Designer
Timeframe: 12 weeks
Tools: Procreate, InDesign
Collaborator: None
Overview:
This project is a hybrid magazine and photo book that explores Ireland through a curated journey of both iconic locations and lesser-known corners of the country. Rooted in a moody dark-green visual identity, the publication blends editorial storytelling with high-quality, atmospheric photography to capture Ireland’s landscapes, culture, and hidden character.

Problem:
Traditional magazines are often bought, flipped through once, and then stored away—rarely revisited and rarely used as conversation pieces. They lack a lasting presence in someone’s home and don’t always encourage deeper engagement. Additionally, Ireland is frequently portrayed through the same popular landmarks, leaving many quieter, lesser-known places overlooked. There was a need for a publication that felt both educational and visually compelling enough to stay out in the open and spark curiosity.

Solution:
By merging the structure of a magazine with the immersive visual quality of a photo book, this project creates a piece that’s meant to be displayed—not tucked away. The refined layout, dark green tonal palette, and high-resolution, cinematic imagery make it suitable as a coffee-table conversation starter while still offering rich editorial content. This approach not only brings Ireland’s well-known and hidden locations to life but also transforms the publication into an engaging, educational object that invites repeated exploration.
