Black Line
Apparel Design

Role: Graphic Designer
Timeframe: 1 week
Tools: Illustrator
Collaborator: None
Overview:
Black Line started this clothing brand with the goal of delivering higher-quality, performance-driven apparel at an accessible price point for mountain bikers. Frustrated by the lack of affordable options that met the technical demands of serious riders, they set out to create gear that balances durability, comfort, and style—designed by riders, for riders.

Problem:
With only one week to print the sample, the client needed a fast turnaround, clear communication, and a production-ready design that required no additional revisions.

Solution:
The client had a clear vision: they wanted a design featuring a topographic map that felt both technical and distinctly Pacific Northwest. To bring that to life, I created a custom map inspired by the Cascade mountain range in Washington State.
Demographic
Black Line MTB primarily targets mountain bikers aged 18–40, ranging from passionate weekend riders to competitive racers. The audience is predominantly based in the Pacific Northwest and other trail-rich regions, where technical riding and outdoor culture are central to their lifestyle. These individuals value high-performance gear that’s both durable and affordable, and they’re often involved in the broader MTB community—participating in group rides, races, or trail maintenance efforts. Sustainability, function, and rider-designed credibility matter to them, and they’re drawn to brands that reflect the grit, progression, and freedom of life on the trail.
